I think it's because the quirky digi images from <a href="https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/VeraLaneStudio" target="_blank">Vera Lane</a> make it easy to do a quickie card with a gelli printed background from my stash (and I do have rather a large stash!). Anyone would think I have an association with VL but, honestly, I don't! I just like several of their images.<br />
<br />
I made a couple of Thank You cards and a couple of Birthday cards, all for my Oriental craft group:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The card below uses an image from Onyx Expressions, sadly no longer in business:</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And, because I liked the clean lines of the above card I used the same format for my Father-in-Law's birthday card (it's so hard to come up with new ideas for the older generation in the family each year but you can't really go wrong with Elvis can you?!)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I keep forgetting that vital step recently, usually remembering just as the card goes into the post box!<br />
<br />
Here are a couple I did remember to take photos of - the first background is done with Distress Oxides and the second is a gelli print; the images are from <a href="https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/VeraLaneStudio" target="_blank">Vera Lane Studios</a> on Etsy.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And here are are some New Year's cards, the last two for ladies in my Oriental craft group hence the nod to 'oriental' with the text stamp in the background. Top background is a gelli print, the others are done with Distress Oxides (you'd never believe these are my two favourite ways of doing backgrounds .....!!) :</div>

<br />
I'd attended a workshop with Mark before so knew it would be a fun and interesting day and it certainly was. We used a different background technique on every page and then used stamps/images/paints to complete the pages. The covers used prints of images from Salvadore Dali's illustrations of the Alice in Wonderland book and these were transferred to the board covers. The stamps were from a variety of companies and all paints were DecoArt.<br />
<br />
Starting at the front cover, here are the pages of my book, not necessarily in the order I have them because it would be too easy for me to work out how to stop the photos jumping around the page on their own, wouldn't it!! I've cussed at them enough and whilst I still can't get the page with the splashes on to go central at least you can get to see the pages:<br />

We each send our creations to the hostess, she divvies them up and then sends us all a full set. <br />
<br />
For September the theme was Trash Polka; having never heard of Trash Polka before I had to resort to old faithful Google and found that it's a style of tattoo. So here is the ATC I made for everyone:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj259iWCU3pcbEtR1sUXW52czl5jjGhEt8BRyJwwWB_iYuNslnvt1l1PspzHaGt-E41cZJfyezn2bCNNsadtK2rsYVJk4nsq7oSnzU4SUQ6qvkXzlqTtvzeULnXAh1Kh0oxfD__sVq7bhE/s1600/Sept+-+Trash+Polka+-+Kate.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1111" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj259iWCU3pcbEtR1sUXW52czl5jjGhEt8BRyJwwWB_iYuNslnvt1l1PspzHaGt-E41cZJfyezn2bCNNsadtK2rsYVJk4nsq7oSnzU4SUQ6qvkXzlqTtvzeULnXAh1Kh0oxfD__sVq7bhE/s400/Sept+-+Trash+Polka+-+Kate.jpg" width="277" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In retrospect, and after seeing everyone else's, I would have been better off not crackling the background - after all, you don't often see people with crackled skin do you?!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I did enjoy this challenge and would definitely like to do something else along these lines in the future.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
For October the theme was Crows - at least I know what they are!! I wanted to do something a bit different and knew about this image of a crow with a saying by Sadako Sadaki on his wings so went with that. The background was done using Distress Oxides and the 'world' is part of a circle cut from pages of an old National Geographic magazine which had been subjected to CitraSolve in the days when that was the thing to do! I have quite a stash that I'd forgotten about until I went hunting for something suitable for the world image so it's good to have had an excuse to actually use some of it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Thanks for taking the time to look - hopefully I'll be back with some more offerings soon.</div>

I spent several weeks watching YouTube videos, buying supplies and trying to catch up with other commitments so that I could clear some space in my craft room and get ready for action.<br />
<br />
Here are the photos of the first few pours I'm willing to share (yes, there were some disasters!). This one is a swipe -<br />

(The white at the bottom left is reflection, it is really black!)</div>
<br />
I've learnt a lot from doing these, and from following Deby Coles website, Facebook group and YouTube videos. There are many people putting up videos and it's worth watching a selection as everyone has a different way of doing things. I have started off with PVA glue as my base but if I ever want to do more with my artwork (like selling it) then I would need to look into using more expensive ingredients as PVA glue can yellow over time. But, it's good enough to practice with!<br />
<br />
So that's it for today - already a third of the way through October and I've managed 2 posts - I'd better buck up my ideas!! See you soon :)<br />

<br />
To start with, since I don't really make cards these days (although I seem to have made several over the last few months!), here are a couple of quickie birthdays cards made for ladies in the About Oriental Stamp Art group. Again, images by <a href="https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/VeraLaneStudio" target="_blank">Vera Lane</a>, the backgrounds are done using Distress Oxides.<br />
<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Thanks for looking; I'll be back with something other than cards very soon!<br />

<br />Linda Warehamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01293496452633593592noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6977685815220199615.post-88312516934487245472017-08-29T06:00:00.000+01:002017-08-29T06:00:40.202+01:00And yet another birthday ........And today, it's Karen's birthday so I can finally blog her card! This card is along the same line's as Wendy's card in my previous post, just a different Vera Lane digi image. I do so love these images - I don't usually do 'cute', preferring grungy and messy playtimes, but these images have an quirky edge to them which I like. Again, I used a couple of my own hand made stamps to add extra dimension to the card.<br />
<br />
That's it for birthday cards - I don't make many these days, possibly just 4-6 a year as I prefer to do more in the way of ATCs or canvases. So next time I'm here I promise to bring you something a little bit different!<br />
<br />

The image is a digi image from Vera Lane, coloured with Pro Markers and the sentiment was printed using the Dymo machine.<br />
<br />
(Apologies for the wonkiness of the scan, I didn't realise it was quite this bad at the time I scanned it!)<br />

I've not used digi stamps before because I always felt like it was 'cheating' for some reason! But, I must say, I do like that you can print them out any size you like, there's no storage problem and you'll always get a perfect image!<br />

<br />
To be honest (joking!), I don't want to be 'told off' by Sy, Wendy and Karen (see Blogtober 2016) for not keeping up with my blog posts! They know me well enough by now to realise that I'm rubbish at blogging :) LOL!<br />
<br />
So, what else have I been doing? Well, there are a small group of us ladies, just in the UK, who swap all sorts of artwork in swaps - these are a few of those from the past couple of months:<br />
<br />
For this postcard swap we had to create a background paper using a specific set of rules -this was my end result - I may have gone a bit swirly and dotty happy but it was shiny and pretty :).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsPZJCCeC76BTNJHhQTBARMmSevgCNFCU8iU6TK7Gmid7Bambrfzs2yb9j3ZfIRqVRAAf0kU96EKK2bwu7QB1Hwy2FEEWDsPk8nRP34QMskDMfm8nOaST0mN54_QjJyQd1vQ6Pe8UIFQQ/s1600/Background+paper+Postcard+to+Pauline%252C+July.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1090" data-original-width="1600" height="271" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsPZJCCeC76BTNJHhQTBARMmSevgCNFCU8iU6TK7Gmid7Bambrfzs2yb9j3ZfIRqVRAAf0kU96EKK2bwu7QB1Hwy2FEEWDsPk8nRP34QMskDMfm8nOaST0mN54_QjJyQd1vQ6Pe8UIFQQ/s400/Background+paper+Postcard+to+Pauline%252C+July.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The spec for this ATC was 'dandelion'. I had the dandelion stamp but it looked a bit boring on its own so I thought a little Alice would enhance it, I mean, Alice enhances anything surely? I quite liked the end result. The background was actually done on the gelli plate with some grasses pressed into the paint before taking the print, but it doesn't show well in the scan.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhf7RP6HhtF8qYQcN722qwPAd47naji59fF4glgwnKUphaoJRhsXTbl5QTyuaEhBWkAGynLrfXosa80cVSM9_MmRSbv5BPTf-MUPeKSHDUehYES50VVZwFgz6vSoFe6oKP7U4YOj05JIUI/s1600/Dandelion+ATC+to+Pauline+-+July.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhf7RP6HhtF8qYQcN722qwPAd47naji59fF4glgwnKUphaoJRhsXTbl5QTyuaEhBWkAGynLrfXosa80cVSM9_MmRSbv5BPTf-MUPeKSHDUehYES50VVZwFgz6vSoFe6oKP7U4YOj05JIUI/s400/Dandelion+ATC+to+Pauline+-+July.jpg" width="298" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This tag was for swap in the same group - we chose a country and tried to portray that in our work. I chose Asia (OK, a continent but it meant I could use any of my Asian supplies!). I love doing grungy - this turned out maybe a bit too grungy for the recipient but they were kind enough to say they liked it!!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeh6Rad6LEazHMZOITFOuQ3K2iawlLL4vLGn8SZX2xp5YL-lwx7duqnA-w5sGA3hZaCHVzHRpfdO79k1B_iq1z50MD8Mcn00kfijVNiz9RI5es5kOyPwWenME1NVJyH3XC-d5wD0qv-LQ/s1600/P1070997.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjeh6Rad6LEazHMZOITFOuQ3K2iawlLL4vLGn8SZX2xp5YL-lwx7duqnA-w5sGA3hZaCHVzHRpfdO79k1B_iq1z50MD8Mcn00kfijVNiz9RI5es5kOyPwWenME1NVJyH3XC-d5wD0qv-LQ/s400/P1070997.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
On the back I made a little pocket using one of the 1001 red envelopes I have and made a tag to go in it. On the front a design, on the back my details.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiamvn3zu_xdKm3YhC7oRf82THQcBKTYMJMCMqZ_RN4nP4agh1cgSTbTBeB4NM4u4A4xurqC_7S0Tbm_pdxnTiD1V08iW6lj-dKrinC_G9dTo8yVkjNPDMwJXF3F778SXs3m8p60ZhGEMA/s1600/P1070998.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiamvn3zu_xdKm3YhC7oRf82THQcBKTYMJMCMqZ_RN4nP4agh1cgSTbTBeB4NM4u4A4xurqC_7S0Tbm_pdxnTiD1V08iW6lj-dKrinC_G9dTo8yVkjNPDMwJXF3F778SXs3m8p60ZhGEMA/s400/P1070998.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And, finally, these two prints were produced during the gelli printing course I did on line. I really enjoyed this course and leant so much but I know that I need to do lots more practicing .....! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_2cXr8Ie_iH4_3FglcGYqwBIYuHvG4wHFOsnmSwE6JgOqP8g8PbDo83eKQc-Jm2cYf-YbNTvG6fphnTtuLJC-xAzVdVErhOzxkQiGnrb-ZIpPwpHSmfJqjLSink5T_kJXAVoRCIgB57w/s1600/P1080745.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_2cXr8Ie_iH4_3FglcGYqwBIYuHvG4wHFOsnmSwE6JgOqP8g8PbDo83eKQc-Jm2cYf-YbNTvG6fphnTtuLJC-xAzVdVErhOzxkQiGnrb-ZIpPwpHSmfJqjLSink5T_kJXAVoRCIgB57w/s400/P1080745.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
At some point I'll go back to this one but at the moment I don't know what to add/alter. I quite like the dolphin 'talking' to the seahorse as well as the fish (large bubble wrap!) in the background but I do feel that it needs more attention ..... we'll see! It'll possibly find its way into the large pile of prints in my drawer!!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiZImLaiaNO5Mup3QPk2P6ehBTDWOeQ-I-MpVqZOZopTwZHD1P-ue5aNllsahETdY-QufzmcOquxjY7mZZuXafGcCs0QbMD_UmQ9lvp4LLFJwMCnXZX5oMQJ18_L0rdK6CEt9vNpdvLcU/s1600/P1090098+%25282%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1201" data-original-width="1600" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiZImLaiaNO5Mup3QPk2P6ehBTDWOeQ-I-MpVqZOZopTwZHD1P-ue5aNllsahETdY-QufzmcOquxjY7mZZuXafGcCs0QbMD_UmQ9lvp4LLFJwMCnXZX5oMQJ18_L0rdK6CEt9vNpdvLcU/s400/P1090098+%25282%2529.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I think I'm about up to date with work I can share. Being in groups means I can't share as I produce work and that's possibly part of my problem with blogging - once I've finished a piece I forget about it!</div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Thanks for popping by and I'll see you soon :)</div>

Just squeezing in here before August hits :)<br />
<br />
Well, I have been doing a few bits and pieces over the last few months; some swaps, a handful of cards (I hardly do any cards these days) plus I took part in an on-line Gelli Printing course run by the lovely Lucy Brydon. I'm currently trying to get my August and early September commitments finished before we go off on our hols shortly so am up to my elbows in paint and glue and my craft room looks like a bomb has hit!<br />
<br />
So, here are a few of the things I've produced (and am willing to share!!).<br />
<br />
These 2 birthday cards were made for friends in an Oriental Stamp Art group, the backgrounds were actually brayer clean up sheets - often they give me more inspiration than the actual sheets themselves!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRiXxg2iDFV2vuh5jDq1ZD4PyVpc3HgfbgMXXx0V3QOmi86BShT63bsBMLYSxwL4Bu4xFYOVnOQzpGrAQd_wHx57VxXlh5GI4jnAnowX307Njv3Q6b6_qMCPhTGocLacutBmQHqxAZqZ8/s1600/Bday+card+to+Anne+C.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1545" data-original-width="1600" height="309" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRiXxg2iDFV2vuh5jDq1ZD4PyVpc3HgfbgMXXx0V3QOmi86BShT63bsBMLYSxwL4Bu4xFYOVnOQzpGrAQd_wHx57VxXlh5GI4jnAnowX307Njv3Q6b6_qMCPhTGocLacutBmQHqxAZqZ8/s320/Bday+card+to+Anne+C.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjD126Ger2RCWkJgbbcYWZ34D1-QmrGt6r0khgNqI4Tm2i6BisQkbbPkGpxbJZmWZIDmvvE1JQ8_qIKIlVcIsO6pNVhKKQLTyDlEVwGx1TCde3aNumxAljO4Ws8uXvrvhBKiBsr974GvCs/s1600/Bday+card+to+Linda+Ellis+-+July.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1563" data-original-width="1600" height="312" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjD126Ger2RCWkJgbbcYWZ34D1-QmrGt6r0khgNqI4Tm2i6BisQkbbPkGpxbJZmWZIDmvvE1JQ8_qIKIlVcIsO6pNVhKKQLTyDlEVwGx1TCde3aNumxAljO4Ws8uXvrvhBKiBsr974GvCs/s320/Bday+card+to+Linda+Ellis+-+July.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
This card uses the small circle gel press plate (from the set of 3 - circle, square, triangle). I love playing with these, both with inks and paints and can spend hours just producing backgrounds.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0nG6bKFmdHQHzW6CHJSzLIPakGE6e3D1y3seq3soFaIEtFClnsykvHk3dGaySph7S8Gi0XbbR49pVMHeuwizAGrTybV4mCsyDF2kiOW_TdnqcoRCo7YXeYUDN-t0DyOqYNSvFeojI0I0/s1600/Bday+card+to.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1597" data-original-width="1600" height="319" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0nG6bKFmdHQHzW6CHJSzLIPakGE6e3D1y3seq3soFaIEtFClnsykvHk3dGaySph7S8Gi0XbbR49pVMHeuwizAGrTybV4mCsyDF2kiOW_TdnqcoRCo7YXeYUDN-t0DyOqYNSvFeojI0I0/s320/Bday+card+to.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This card is something totally different for me. For a swap in another group I had to do iris folding, something alien to me and something I really had no interest in, having 3 thumbs on each hand!. But, I persevered and once I got the hang of it I quite enjoyed it and 'may' do it again on a smaller scale one day in the distant future. (I had to do 9 ATCs of this design!). I made this card for a washi paper swap on the Oriental Stamp Art Group, sort of practicing for doing the ATCs.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBEUODARcPzNctUc9nUVmL7XIRfR1bVXgYTi7f88lEvw531l9KFkxRE1l8Stj6methDhCyN7Y-8yS8gKPBKkgdKDYJ8NAWmRJaNxdiCNdPTXhyphenhyphenlHNUf2FU6vF_a5OMKesHxN0sH20etVU/s1600/Washi+Mingle+to+Barbie+D+-+May.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBEUODARcPzNctUc9nUVmL7XIRfR1bVXgYTi7f88lEvw531l9KFkxRE1l8Stj6methDhCyN7Y-8yS8gKPBKkgdKDYJ8NAWmRJaNxdiCNdPTXhyphenhyphenlHNUf2FU6vF_a5OMKesHxN0sH20etVU/s320/Washi+Mingle+to+Barbie+D+-+May.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
And this one was a card for a 'dragonfly' card swap:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgihprp0Ri7GT3zgNgy8nECFuG21JTWreNlD_EiDIGTsYjfoFkZzI_dftWc29Qy2jdlgfkWh9Yq5yFNpEhukTxQuvkkCEwDXMpa8f7TxAbIt14yFFOrgEh0eThamFaiOw0mogbikzyeWzA/s1600/Dragonfly+Mingle+to+Peg+K+-+April.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1121" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgihprp0Ri7GT3zgNgy8nECFuG21JTWreNlD_EiDIGTsYjfoFkZzI_dftWc29Qy2jdlgfkWh9Yq5yFNpEhukTxQuvkkCEwDXMpa8f7TxAbIt14yFFOrgEh0eThamFaiOw0mogbikzyeWzA/s320/Dragonfly+Mingle+to+Peg+K+-+April.jpg" width="224" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So that's just a few bits of what's being going on in the Dragonflywhisperz craft room. I'll be back very soon with some more :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Thanks for visiting.</div>

At the time I had minimal supplies to hand and was working on the kitchen table - that brought back memories of when I first started crafting; boy am I glad I don't have to do that these days! I found my old Alice book and AIW stamps, grabbed some gelli prints from the huge stash I seem to have accumulated and some washi tape and got going. This is the result:<br />

When we came home I decided to empty my craft room totally and redecorate. Hubby laid a new floor (getting rid of the rather smelly carpet we'd inherited with the house), I nabbed DS's desk that we'd been storing in the garage and hubby re-jigged the shelving. I got rid of SO much stuff - I can't believe I had so much total rubbish in there (well actually, I wasn't really that surprised!). So my room looked like this for a while - tidy!:<br />

Of course it's not this tidy now! I'm now back in 'making a mess' mode; that has to happen if masterpieces are going to be created - right?!Linda Warehamhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01293496452633593592noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6977685815220199615.post-46374703930966008182016-12-16T21:06:00.000+00:002016-12-16T21:06:56.588+00:00Christmas CardsSince buying the set of 3 little Gel Press plates I have become rather obsessive about them and have made a huge pile of prints and a stack of card bases. Some of these have finally become Christmas cards - I had to stop when I realised I had more than enough for this year! So, the rest will become birthday cards at some point.<br />
<br />
All of these ones in this photo are made using DecoArt Media Acrylics, I like that because they are so highly pigmented you only need to have a very thin film of paint on the Gel Press plate which lets the underneath design show through well. Some of them have more paint because I wanted a bolder look.<br />

<br />
I made this ATC for a swap where the theme was to print using fruit or vegetables. I chose to use onion which I must say was incredibly smelly! I brayered red and yellow and a tiny bit of black acrylic paint on my gelli plate and then used the cut onion to lift paint off of the plate and printed it randomly onto a clean sheet of paper. By using the gelli plate it was easy to keep moving the paint around. Once dry I cut the paper into ATC sized pieces and then stitched around some of the onion ring designs followed by added white highlights. Finally I stamped a flower onto another piece of gelli printed cardstock and finished off with a button.<br />

<br />
Going back to March, my children bought me a voucher to attend a glass fusion workshop with the lovely Claudia Weigand of <a href="http://ohmyglass.biz/" target="_blank">Oh My Glass</a> which is in a little village near Worcester and I arranged to go in April. What a great day! Hubby and I drove up the evening before and stayed in a beautiful little old fashioned pub nearby called <a href="http://thebootinn.com/" target="_blank">The Boot Inn</a> (the food was amazing).! On the Saturday I attended the course and hubby entertained himself in the rain (we actually woke to snow but that soon turned to rain). I think he spent most of the day sitting in his car reading.<br />
<br />
We made three items, the first a wall hanging - I chose to do my birthsign:<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvsVJ-8VJV3QmxosXN3Uhxh2OJ1fVJpTMpSt7o1V0WrDxR1RXkmj2K98BSxV7wfrfR5LrRqMnwGyj8B0CSVDbkmO9eGdy1XyJN6afH22dqgmRTajnvVoFBtF3bJXpzuBcC0jFQBsFTTBY/s1600/P1030054.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvsVJ-8VJV3QmxosXN3Uhxh2OJ1fVJpTMpSt7o1V0WrDxR1RXkmj2K98BSxV7wfrfR5LrRqMnwGyj8B0CSVDbkmO9eGdy1XyJN6afH22dqgmRTajnvVoFBtF3bJXpzuBcC0jFQBsFTTBY/s400/P1030054.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
This is clear glass with an embossed design.<br />
<br />
My second piece was a different wall hanging where we made a design laying pieces of coloured glass over a long plain piece. The idea (in my head) was not to have everything in line - I like the more random edges. I tried to depict sunset over a beach.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUSBoo_h174jbEbaZnoe4URqoYl_DdP0K48hRx6XtUuULZnqbdrBv1KvJNG_Ys8_Kp9EOB5ukCM4az-oqRu3Os6TwU_lEikgDAxg7G-ttcQWJAohNGHFZSe8Pm02TEXWmKW4H6ylvIDvA/s1600/wall+hanging.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUSBoo_h174jbEbaZnoe4URqoYl_DdP0K48hRx6XtUuULZnqbdrBv1KvJNG_Ys8_Kp9EOB5ukCM4az-oqRu3Os6TwU_lEikgDAxg7G-ttcQWJAohNGHFZSe8Pm02TEXWmKW4H6ylvIDvA/s400/wall+hanging.jpg" width="148" /></a></div>
<br />
My last piece was a candle holder - the idea was to make something that 'drooped' (I can't remember the correct name for it!). The design is fired flat at first and then it is fired a second time over a form and it then takes that shape. I used pieces of copper (the hearts), foil and wire to make the design.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhX8HBiksPzy4L2nRjFHFaRQDb2brdpzgUEqsKM6KOr4B1I3MeX6dW8cvo8ppot9-WVEBM8Lmbuf-7NKjTZRoNrh8hAvkyhd7r_hPgIVMO1rN3aDDYuiLT9lrU9VWRKAD7V7VixwVzY7-M/s1600/P1030055.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhX8HBiksPzy4L2nRjFHFaRQDb2brdpzgUEqsKM6KOr4B1I3MeX6dW8cvo8ppot9-WVEBM8Lmbuf-7NKjTZRoNrh8hAvkyhd7r_hPgIVMO1rN3aDDYuiLT9lrU9VWRKAD7V7VixwVzY7-M/s400/P1030055.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I really loved doing this and it is definitely something I'd like to do more of ..... one day!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So it is now the end of Blogtober - thanks for taking a look at my posts. Hopefully having been kick-started into resuming my blog I will now keep it up.</div>

<br />
Today I am going all the way back to 2014 when I did an ATC for my swap group where the theme was 'articulated dolls'. My mind being what it is (!) I came up with the following:<br />

I felt the need to add a little bit of velvet ribbon for a skirt ...... !!<br />
<br />
Along the same lines and for the same group, but many months later, I made 9 of these ATCs for a swap with a Halloween theme:<br />

It doesn't really show but the little poison bottles stand proud of the background. They were cut out, glazed and thread wound around them whilst we were on holiday in The Canary Islands - hubby thought there were better things we could be doing (mainly including a glass and some wine!).</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Also, someone needs to remind me that I do NOT enjoy making articulated dolls, especially 9 of the little things - my fingers were very sore by the time I'd finished.</div>

It would seem that most of my time is spent pouring gallons of paint on my plates and pulling zillions of prints. Of course there are times when I get side-tracked with Brushos and similar products and yes, I have a humongous box of those as well, but they do all come out and get used as backgrounds ........ eventually!<br />
<br />
Today I am sharing a tag I made for a swap using the packing tape transfer technique. Paint and inks etc are layered up on the gelli plate and what you see in front of you is what you get as your end result. Once you are happy with the way the design looks you leave it to dry and then use wide clear packing tape to pull the print and immediately place it down on paper/book pages/music score etc. (There are several YouTube tutorials on doing this technique). You do need to leave some clear patches in the design so that the sticky on the tape can actually stick to the paper. I have tried using gel medium to glue it down but it wasn't as successful as leaving the clear spaces.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcSlg4-g4Z5MS8C6Py5wbxPqJ8IM5RBJnLVEkcyUHGHI5EYlFJW8__pGgRf7DSnk0EShRRGn7dKfEnAQzhlt5RBS3FIEPnTX55yhzrEMZNjsrEd4w_-DYdP8BpRlie6PFo9_YYvJPZVao/s1600/Gelli+packing+tape+to+Jacqui+Aug+16.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcSlg4-g4Z5MS8C6Py5wbxPqJ8IM5RBJnLVEkcyUHGHI5EYlFJW8__pGgRf7DSnk0EShRRGn7dKfEnAQzhlt5RBS3FIEPnTX55yhzrEMZNjsrEd4w_-DYdP8BpRlie6PFo9_YYvJPZVao/s400/Gelli+packing+tape+to+Jacqui+Aug+16.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
As you can see, I used the paint left on the plate after pulling the print to make up another similar sheet (paper, not clear tape) which I used for the back of the tag. I also made a little pocket for a mini tag to sit in.<br />

I made this tag with 1.5" wide tape but a lady in the group this was made for has suggested using a roll of clear book covering. I have now purchased a roll so next time will be able to pull a print off the whole plate rather than having to do it in sections and try, not extremely successfully, to piece it together!<br />

As usual, don't forget to click on the Blogtober button to see what everyone else has been up to lately.<br />

<br />
I've used the bronze paint here:<br />

I'll definitely use them on occasions on the gelli plate, possibly as a middle layer - who knows! Things are very random in my craft room!<br />

On Saturday I was lucky enough to go to the one run by Mark Gould of <a href="http://decoart.com/" target="_blank">DecoArt</a> - a great down to earth guy and great teacher. <div>
<br /></div>
<div>
When we first sat down we had a pile of MDF pieces which we had to glue together to make a 12 x 12 box and lid - that was a joke and I can tell you, the air inside my head was very blue and occasionally some of it would escape and a naughty word would come out! I wasn't the only one having trouble with it which made me feel a bit better!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Eventually the box was made and we slathered it with moulding paste. Once dry we painted, painted more, grunged up, stencilled etc and the end result is below. I can't tell you how much product we used - we got through gallons of the stuff! I hadn't quite finished mine at the end of the workshop so completed it at home, adding, as an extra, some crackle paste to the topper which I let dry overnight then rubbed a little Antiquing Cream over - after all you can't have too much crackle, can you?</div>

I must say, I arrived home with extremely painty hands and with numerous splatters over my face and neck which hubby thought was very funny :)</div>

My home made gelli plates .....Although I already have 2 gelli plates, when I saw a recipe demo'd by Jennifer Petz on her YouTube channel (<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98ZyvDSmI30">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98ZyvDSmI30</a>) and I had the ingredients to hand, I had to try it out.<br />
<br />
I'm not sure that I had the right sort of alcohol; the recipe is for American ingredients and states 95% alcohol - I had surgical spirit so used that. I guess a high proof Vodka might have worked too ...... but why waste Vodka trying?! I made one tiny plate and one a about 3" x 6". I used the tiny one first; it worked fine for the first few prints pulled but gradually started to break up on the top (this is when I thought my alcohol might not be right as all other ingredients were as the recipe). It did leave some interesting patterns, so not a total waste. The larger plate seemed sturdier and I used that several times without it breaking up at all. I did find pulling the last of the paint off of the plate wasn't quite so easy as with a purchased plate but I cleaned up with a baby wipe and the paint came straight off.<br />
<br />
The one thing I would say is to have some ventilation in your room; those plates totally stink! It wasn't helped by the fact I was also using an onion to print with today so the mixed vapours around me were very pungent!<br />
<br />
This is the larger plate - the frilly edges are from the pot I used to make it in, they didn't affect the use at all:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6j1BLDc91rTy7eytqgE41p9hSE8wI1LUkyHSclHxWKScnttRY1A2hnzBOQBBd5OL7qox6SeCgf1QDgFN3JD6oVpqayJipQoVDq0dK93gNKJcptCnPofLHxqJX4NX4LucNhSgChyphenhyphenpgtak/s1600/P1050260.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6j1BLDc91rTy7eytqgE41p9hSE8wI1LUkyHSclHxWKScnttRY1A2hnzBOQBBd5OL7qox6SeCgf1QDgFN3JD6oVpqayJipQoVDq0dK93gNKJcptCnPofLHxqJX4NX4LucNhSgChyphenhyphenpgtak/s320/P1050260.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
This is the little plate - not quite big enough for the prints to be used for an ATC - I should have thought that out better! But it can be melted back down and made in a different container next time. You can see how the top is breaking down slightly.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This print was done on the smaller plate:</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here I was pulling the remains of the paint off of the larger plate; there was a bit of paint left on the plate after this pull but I just wiped it clean with a baby wipe, let in dry and popped it back in the pot it was made in. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So, will I continue to make these - possibly not but it was fun to try and I will keep these on the go, melting down and re-setting when necessary. If you haven't got a gelli plate then this is a very easy and quick way to get one and if you can get the correct ingredients I would imagine it would hold up better than mine!</div>

As I was already in my little craft room and had just started to get some supplies out to play with, I put them to one side and started unpacking and, of course, playing with the new goodies.<br />
<br />
First of all, Colourcraft Aztec Metallics - these are really shimmery and pretty.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Sadly they don't put the names of the colours on the bottles and some are similar; they give a lovely sheen and I can see these coming out for the Christmas crafting.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBfQPrVCTmbRLBgFs5uIptAdUTIe0ZLIsFzVjhqgB9aJjKtzwDouykFdBlBOTeqyB3chQzqz33x-in6G2z-6mIdcnuOJsPcegOPdW05sff8F25LY22-Q2A7HKSp2hJhAw9f07urQoj00M/s1600/P1050255.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBfQPrVCTmbRLBgFs5uIptAdUTIe0ZLIsFzVjhqgB9aJjKtzwDouykFdBlBOTeqyB3chQzqz33x-in6G2z-6mIdcnuOJsPcegOPdW05sff8F25LY22-Q2A7HKSp2hJhAw9f07urQoj00M/s320/P1050255.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I did try using them on the gelli plate but they just beaded up. This did create a nice effect when printed but I possibly wouldn't bother to use them on the gelli plate on a regular basis.<br />
<br />
In the next box were these not so little pots of shimmery, glimmery joy and a bottle of acrylic wax.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used the soft form relief paste through a stencil and left it to dry and this is the result - isn't it beautiful?!</div>

I had some old Asian newspapers in my stash so took the fashion and food pages to be sure there was nothing 'suspect' written there and folded them into little kimonos. Finished with a ribbon sash and a very mini button painted with Krylon gold pen and with a little bit of coordinating thread tied through.<br />

<br />
This little bird was made for a swap - I cut the base from thick board and used gelli printed papers for the body and wings and buttons for the eyes. I added a few white pen and gold highlights The aim was to have both sides totally different, which I succeeded in doing (and far easier than trying to get them exactly the same!).<br />
